Ok. Is it just me, or does this news sound really cool?

Doesn't sound that cool to me. I like a lot of Japanese anime, and absolutely love Vampire Hunter D, but I'm against everything getting 'manga-fied'. It's an interesting art style. I'd just rather see more variety. This makes sense for Japan of course, but I dread every cartoon being manga stylized, which is already happening.

It would have been nice to SEE some of the Manga-stylized images of Iron Man they were talking about. However, I agree with Elixor that not everything needs to be done in Manga(I think the Star Wars manga looks stupid).

"Marvel gives creators freedom to fly."

Yes, which is exactly why Image was created. :-P

I don't know that they are necessarily going to do it Japanese-style. I took this article to mean that they'd re-write their characters with Japanese characters. Make the story mean more for the locals than having some 17 year old white boy getting bit by a spider. I'm sure they'll put their own visual flair to it, but that isn't the crux of why Marvel is doing this.

I think it will be interesting to see how different the characters' costumes and worlds are depicted. I've always been interested in seeing this brand of translation, actually. What with all the poor American revisions of Japanese product we're served year in, year out, it's high time we see some excellent ones by them of ours.

What has me worried is what if the Japanese versions of the Marvel characters are better than the original American ones? You just know that Marvel will start copying ideas written in Japan into the American versions, or wipe out the American version altogether and replace it solely with the newer Japanese one. I don't know if the art will become "manga-ized", but I'll bet you money that the characters and stories will.

I have nothing against Japanese manga, honestly, I just don't want it flooding out American comics.

This is very exciting news. This is a very, very good idea. If they can take Wolverine and draw him like Vampire Hunter D, i will cream my pants. Marvel characters could not be in better hands.

A Japanese version of Iron Man?
"Me Iron Man. Me love you long time."
