New Filmmakers Already Set for Bond's Next Flick?

IGN FilmForce brings early word that the Bond flick after "Casino Royale" may indeed come with an all-new screenwriter and director...

Says IGNFF: "According to a report attributed to The Daily Mail, Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are moving full-steam ahead with the untitled 22nd James Bond film, a follow-up to "Casino Royale," by hiring a new screenwriter and director. The report claims that playwright/Oscar-winning screenwriter Tom Stoppard is "in talks" to pen the screenplay.

Stoppard is not unfamiliar with the espionage genre. He is currently rewriting "The Bourne Ultimatum," and has also scripted "The Russia House." The Daily Mail also claims that Eon Prods. are "in negotiations" with South African-born director Roger Michell ("Notting Hill," "Changing Lanes") to helm "Bond 22." New Bond star Daniel Craig previously worked with Michell on "Enduring Love" and has reportedly been pushing for his hiring."

"Casino Royale," which opens on November 17th, was written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and Paul Haggis, and was directed by Martin Campbell.

It's hard to say how I feel about this until I watch Casino Royale.

It seems to me that if they're ready to jump ship with their current director and current screen writer, then things might not be too promising with their current film.

I was thinking the same thing...
But I'm hoping it's only because the people involved in the first couldn't do it due to other contractual obligations.

I think that Michell could be allright, and I don't think that they are jumping ship, they allmost alway's get a different director for every movie in this franchise. For goodness sake this is Campbell's second film of the franchise so obviously they thought he was good enough to bring back. I'm looking forward to Casino Royale, it looks pretty good.
