on Aug 19 2008 04:29 AM I guess nobody's watching the Watchmen next March... (Reply to this) |
on Aug 19 2008 06:27 AM In reply to this comment (#1990563) I'm a lawyer. Trust me [I realize that's a contradiction in terms] when I say that this will be settled and it will not affect the release of Watchmen. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 19 2008 06:28 AM Fooey. They ought to start a telethon to get people to donate money to settle the lawsuit. It's a charitable cause. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 19 2008 06:28 AM I'm sorry... what studio had execs strung out enough to greenlight Dragonball instead of this? Yeah, that's what I thought. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 19 2008 07:01 AM well, this is horse sh#t, but definitely fixable. they'll just take a big ole chunk of their marketing budget, pay off those greedy ****-smokers at fox (like they did the last time this happened) and the movie will come out on time. this is annoying, but it's never really going to affect us. on Aug 19 2008 07:23 AM I hear Watchmen makes fun of bald, blue naked men, so I'm going to protest outside the theater. Oh wait, wrong movie... (Reply to this) |
on Aug 19 2008 08:10 AM In reply to this comment (#1990805) Uh oh, don't tell Tobias. (Reply to this) |
on Aug 19 2008 08:35 AM Well, if the facts presented in the article are true- it seems that WB knew Fox still had distribution rights but ignored them. So Fox would seem to have every right to being ticked off. WB should have just paid them for their remaining rights in the property from the get go to avoid this whole problem. I'm sure it would have been much cheaper for them to have played fair then rather than now. (Reply to this) |
on Aug 19 2008 08:41 AM Arrrrrrrgh...more legal wranglings in the world of Hollywood! I think it'll all just boil down 2 money and WB is gonna have to pay Fox... (Reply to this) |

on Aug 19 2008 08:45 AM So not only does Fox studios release crappy movies, but now they also keep other studios from releasing potentially good movies. *sigh* (Reply to this) |

on Aug 19 2008 09:41 AM This better not mess up the release of the movie...I'm reading it right now (it's fantastic; I should finish it today) and I'm really excited for the film. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 19 2008 10:41 AM Fox is obviously desperate because they've tanked this year at the box office. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 19 2008 11:23 AM In reply to this comment (#1990608) Buck wrote: "I'm a lawyer." Me, too. ...and sometimes when I read stuff like this, I get a little self-hating lawyer action going-- specifically because while I groan at the morass of technicalities that are dragging this superhero fantasy right back down into our own, litigous reality, I unfortunately both understand and appreciate precisely why this sort of thing happens and the 'need' for this litigation. To hyper-simplify (because I'm not in the industry and can make over-simplified suggestions), I say just promise Fox a percentage of the gross and Fox should th (Reply to this) |

on Aug 19 2008 11:26 AM Logically, shouldn't Fox have worried about this when the film was in pre-production? (Reply to this) |
on Aug 19 2008 12:09 PM In reply to this comment (#1990805) Ha! exactly. Blue, bald, naked men the world over must unite to fight this injustice. Skaboss: Great! Fox needs to do that movie to. (For you who didn't get the joke, it from the show Arrested Development). (Reply to this) |
on Aug 19 2008 02:19 PM Yeah I doubt this will effect WATCHMEN'S release date, worst case scenario WB will have to pay FOX a percentage. Also FOX SUCKS! They never do good movies. Also they would have ruined WATCHMEN! They hardly ever make an R rated movie, and do you think they would make a 3 hour 100 million dollar movie?!?!?!?! NO! Im glad the WB has balls and they made this movie, I hope FOX gets NOTHING! (Reply to this) |

on Aug 19 2008 10:11 PM Relax, the movie is not in any danger. (Reply to this) |
