The Weekly Ketchup: "Dark Knight" Update, New "Transformers" Trailer, New Director For "Punisher 2," And More!
by Nick Hershey | May 25, 2007
Discuss Article
In this Week's Ketchup, the "Dark Knight" official site got a slick update, the "Transformers" latest trailer kills, and the sequel to "The Punisher" has a new director (now about that Frank Castle role...).

Also, a true fan gives the "G.I. Joe" screenplay the thumbs-down, and some hot "Indiana Jones 4" tidbits surfaced. Read on.

This Week's Most Popular News:

Freaky New "Dark Knight" Update
Remember when we whined about the "Dark Knight" website being only one logo-filled page? Well, there's been a few updates.

Lotsa Crazy New Footage in the Latest "Transformers" Trailer!

My initial skepticism is really starting to evaporate: The newest "Transformers" trailer is pretty damn wild.

Jane Out, Dahl In on "Punisher 2"?

We're already well aware that actor Thomas Jane has walked away from the "Punisher" sequel, but now comes word that a new director might be attached.

Someone REALLY Hates the New "G.I. Joe" Screenplay

Apparently Paramount and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura commissioned a "G.I. Joe" script from "Swordfish" screenwriter Skip Woods -- and someone out there is really furious about it.

Indiana Jones and the Russians at Area 51?

A few new "Indiana Jones 4" tidbits are hitting the 'net lately, and most of 'em are pretty juicy indeed.

We want more.

In Other News:
  • Cuba Gooding Jr. will produce and star in the teen comedy "Harold," with T. Sean Shannon writing and directing.
  • Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired the film rights to Irish author Derek Landy's book "Skulduggery Pleasant," as well as future titles in the potential nine-book series.
  • Alfred Molina has joined Kate Bosworth in writer/director Agnieszka Vosloo's supernatural thriller "After.Life."
  • Sam Neill has joined Ethan Hawke in "Daybreakers," a futuristic vampire thriller from Australian horror auteurs Peter and Michael Spierig.
  • Warner Independent Pictures has signed Lodge Kerrigan to write and direct "Thieves," an English-language remake of the French film "Les Voleurs."
  • "The Simpsons" writer and co-producer Dana Gould will develop a zombie comedy tentatively titled "The Last Larry" for Comedy Central that he will write and star in.
  • 20th Century Fox will bring a live-action film of the computer game "The Sims" to the big-screen.
  • Nicolas Cage has dropped out of "The Untouchables: Capone Rising," Brian De Palma's "Untouchables" prequel, due to a scheduling conflict.
  • Sandra Bullock will return to the romantic comedy fold, starring in Touchstone Pictures' "The Proposal."

Who else could play Capone besides Cage?

Oh that's the first time I heard about Cage dropping out. That's good. Now they can cast someone that's at least mildly intimidating.

Whatever that sucks that Cage dropped out, I was curious to see his take on Capone.

Odd innit? They may just do some ordinary random family story about anything and label it The Sims TM. It really makes very little sense to do this, unless it's done as a surreal sort of thing featuring people in the game itself as live actors, with some sadistic gamer being their god. Either way it's dumb.

Some of the people supposedly tapped to work on it have previously worked on things like Norbit, When A Stranger Calls, Scary Movie 3, and Eragon - all stinkers.
