Review Revue: The Dark Knight vs. ABBA, Chimp Flicks
Plus, it's time to say farewell to one of RT's own...
by Jen Yamato | July 18, 2008
Discuss Article

ABBA fans and chimpanzee enthusiasts take heed: there's room for only one at the top, and Batman's all out of bubble gum. The year's most anticipated film finally hits this Friday, but will The Dark Knight live up to all the hype? Find out that and more, and watch Dave Chung's final farewell from RT in this week's Review Revue.

Many of you will find out tonight just how good this week's sequel to Batman Begins really is, but join us below to discuss what the critics are saying about Chris Nolan's action, Heath Ledger's Joker, The Dark Knight's PG-13 rating and more. (Also come back after you see TDK and let us know what you think!) Is The Dark Knight a masterpiece? Is it one of the best movies of the year? How many bazillions of dollars will it make this weekend? And really, was it such a bad thing for Joel Schumacher to put nipples on the Batsuit?

Meanwhile, the rumors are true; Dave Chung is leaving us. We wish him the best in his future endeavors and thank him for adding that extra spice, contributing a pantsload of unrepeatable jokes, and dropping a few too many Amanda Bynes and/or Carrie Underwood references during the course of his Review Revue career. As a farewell, we've included a rare behind-the-scenes video from the RT offices featuring a farewell performance by Dave "Kobayashi" Chung.

Watch it!

You know you want more Batman. Who can get enough? Check out our Total Recall: It's the Bat! article remembering all of the Caped Crusader's cinematic adventures over the years.

And check back next week for our discussion of the family comedy Step Brothers and the long-awaited sequel, X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Dave is a really good movie reviewer. Best luck to you.

Jenny Y is cool. A pretty girl that knows her movies. That's hot.

I really don't see why people think this movie is so close to R; my little brother who is 9 wasn't really scared and he is even scared of the Bourne movies. Other than the "magic trick" with the pencil, nothing was really disgusting enough to put it into R territory. No language or sex, and the violence really is not very extreme.

Dear Dave,

your just leaving the review revue, and not RT right? Because honestly, you and Jen are my only friends on the vine. And Carrie Underwood rocks, Amanda Bynes, not so much...but as always, I still love you. Stay up homie!

Jen,

"Chimpanauts", the much better title.

Maybe I am being silly here, but I think Ledger's performance is every bit as good as Hopkins in "Silence of the Lambs" and Deniro in "Cape Fear". It would be a shame for him to be overlooked just because this is a comic book movie. He atleast deserves a nomination. I just wish he could be hear to enjoy all the praise he is getting. It truely was a great perfomance.

They will give Ledger the nomination (as with Depp for Captain Jack), but he probably won't win. After all, it's a "comic book movie", and everyone knows they are just for the hoi poloi.

Dave Chung leaving RT (and not just the RR, 707) is the saddest thing to happen. EVER. We love him so! Amanda Bynes, not so much. (Check out this great site I just discovered! http://www.davechung.com/)

And helloooo there, vopmms...:)

MM54, interesting point about how I described Step Brothers. I meant that it was about family, not for it...might have to reconsider that designation after I see it this week.

CHAOS and everything... ITS JUST REALLY THE BEST FILM OF THE YEAR!!!

There is hope in people, but no hope in society.
There is no hope in movies, but hope in vissionaries.

Long live Nolan.

Ive seen it twice in a day, it is truly a masterpiece and people have a trouble admiting it because batman is a comic. I hope the Academy doesnt look it that way because it deserves two big nominations: Best Actor-Heath Ledger and Best Movie (and for me up till now it should win both)
