Debuting after the 2000 election, the series satirized the inanity of sitcom clichés by transplanting the action to the White House, where the bumbling and not-too-bright President George W. Bush (deadringer Timothy Bottoms) engaged in stereotypically ridiculous plotlines about hot-button social issues--like the death penalty, gun control, and abortion--against a backdrop of catchphrases, laugh tracks, and stock characters, including the wisecracking maid (Marcia Wallace), advice-spouting neighbor (John D'Aquino), and dumb blonde bimbo (Kristen Miller).
