I'm only slightly interested if they give it an R rating, something it deserves. I don't know what the first one got, atleast it was mildly entertaining. I can't speak for the second one...ugh!

Those were $500 Sunglasses @sshole!

The first was great cheesy 90's fun. And better written/acted than Transformers. If they make a new one, I hope it doesn't take itself too seriously.

I just re-watched annhiliation after so many years and boy was that a terrible movie. I'm afraid to re-watch the first one for fear of ruining another great childhood memory. Maybe all the fanboys of all the new remakes/reboots/adaptations (transformers, gi joe etc...) should go back and watch the source material. I gaurantee they wont take the stuff so seriously anymore. "You're destroying my childhood MEMORIIIEESSSS!!!" STFU didn't your parents ever take you to an amusement park or the zoo or something...

-End rant lol.

Do you guy's remember the live action commecials they used before the mortal monday releases? It had a kick *** Baraka and everything. All they gotta do is stick to the horror aspect and give it an R rating and score. Sonya killed the other kombat movies, I blame her. Bring on the senseless murder!

As i recall, the first one was pretty good. At least it was interesting and had some killer techno music to fire you up. The 2nd was just plain dumb. They NEEDED to bring back Chris Lambert as Raiden. Dropped the ball on that one. The feel of those movies were wrong and not true to the source. Regardless of the plot, MK is really about brutal bloodshed and mindless slaughter. Give it a R and rip out some splines!

FINISH HIM!

Mk with a Highlander twist. Collin's final prize was to become the thunder god. Hey look im 27 and I get laid bc I wrote a Family Guy episode one night over beer and a classic Donkey Kong machine. I cant wait to write a episode of The Big Bang theory where the boys meet Boba Fett! I should write this movie! No wait,Finish Me!!!

Oh Matanuki are you going to claim that Johnny Cage is stronger than Goro now? I mean you are a retard that said that Deadpool had a stronger healing factor than Wolverine. You are just an all around retard.

Mortal Kombat was one of two movies I ever walked out on in the theaters. I'll give you a hint on the second one: Bat Nipples!

I'd be down for this movie if it isn't a totaly cheese fest like the first two.

I like the first Mortal Kombat but only on a guilty pleasure level. They could seriously make such a kick *** movie out of Mortal Kombat if they just got the right director!!! Ughghgh. Somebody call up the Wachoskis!!! hahaha..

Hurray!

I'm actually serious. The second one was awful but I thoroughly enjoyed the first (except for a woefully miscast Sonya Blade). Easily Paul Anderson's finest work, not that that's really saying a lot, but I really do think it's underrated. Point is, Mortal Kombat can make a good movie, if it's handled correctly. The second one was not, and the first one could have been better, but if they use the same approach this time around and can improve on a couple things, I think we could have an awesome movie on our hands.

Now that said, I'm not really expecting anything good, just because the talent that typically gets attached to these kind of projects usually isn't very talented. So, in all likelihood it'll probably suck like the sequel.

As an aside, did anyone else watch the live action Mortal Kombat: Conquest TV show from about 10 years ago? It ended after one season due to budget overruns, but it was pretty cool. I keep hoping the series will be released on region 1 DVD but as far as I know it's only available in the other regions.

I've seen that Mortal Kombat series. You really liked it? I thought it sucked, like really terrible. Everything accept for the first Mortal Kombat is just trash, i'm sorry to say. I've only seen the first 2 episodes of the show though, so maybe it got better as it went on?

I do agree with you though, that if in the right hands, Mortal Kombat could make such an awesome movie! In my earlier post i was kidding when i said call up the Wachowskis, but then i thought about it, and that would actually be pretty awesome!! But you're probably right, they're just hire a bunch of people who don't know what they're doing and it'll be straight to video garbabe. *sigh* why can't they just do this material justice?

Well, I also enjoyed the first movie (haven't seen it in years though), and I hope they do this right: rated R and bring in some kick @$$ fatalities!

I enjoyed the first movie when i was younger, and it wasnt really that bad for the time. If they got a decent script and a solid director...that in itself would be a big step forward. Add in some of todays special effects, keeping in line with their styles of fighting...that would be another plus. But a major thing for me is if and ONLY IF they bring back all the classic characters and remade them to a grittier, more serious and somewhat realistic mold...even if the acting is half decent..then who knows, we could be in business. I liked the sub-zero/scorpion looks and style and how they were quiet...sonya..terrible, kano..annoying and not intimidating whatsoever, lambert as raiden was solid, bring him back. everything else was alright. I just dont see how its so hard to add a little substance to a video game adapted movie.

Anything close to Annihilation will just be AWFUL! it was on FX last week and i hadnt seen it in its entirety and i though....well lets just say it was a great laugh for me and my drunk friends. Probably in my top10 worst movies ive ever seen.
