The intelligent adolescent has no friends her own age, but shares a bond with Charles, an eccentric scientist fifty years her senior. She has many offbeat habits, too, including her use of a remote-controlled flying saucer. Amazingly, she can also start fires and smash windows telekinetically. Dee Dee's dad chalks up his daughter's paranormal feats to the effects of bereavement for the loss of Dee Dee's mother. He just wants to rebuild his life. Then Dee Dee, who had begun to insist she's not human, shaves her head, and plans a space voyage. Now her father must drop the self-help talk and help his child -- even if she might be a Martian!
