Hell...Yes!

This is the one movie I am actually looking forward to, and Ramis in this interview maps out exactly why we need THIS type of person in position of power at the top of the Hollywood food chain.

The interview, Aside from referring to the debacle that was "Year one", was right on the money.

Hey, everyone's allowed one blight on their record...OK, GB2 was pretty awful too, but looking at it amongst today's crap fest of current cinema, I would argue even IT is leaps and bounds above most things being produced today in terms of being an actual movie of the type we once looked forward to years ago with a story, character development, etc; at least they tried.

As far as GB3...Do I consider this a "reboot"? No. This is a sequel. And if it's any good at all, it will serve to , yes, re-energize the series (note I did not use the word "franchise". Which will be fine. If their smart, and it seems that this may be one of the few situations run by the right, caring and thoughtful custodians of a beloved concept film brand where they are, they'll do as I suspect with it.

That being that will we be given a bookend to the adventures of the original team, at least better than Part 2, and allow our heroes to go trapping into the sunset.

If, and there is always the risk of this of course from the E.C.H.O.E.S. (see www.holywoodreboot.com for the definition of this term in August, 2009)the new, now trilogy of films is then hijacked as the dollars roll in, and green lit for more installments to further what will then unfortunately be termed a "franchise", that's where the problems will begin.

But, with Ramis and the original core crew at the helm here, exemplifying exactly the right attitude for a re-visiting of a classic film, I'm going to predict that won't happen.

Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd...I salute you.

this could be a HUGE darkhorse movie if everything is done correctly... The comedic unity of the original cast was classic... If they can achieve that again, while making a GOOD ghost movie that is believable, this movie will do very well IMO.....

Good to hear Ramis giving movies like Indiana Jones and the elaboretly long title some much needed critisicm. I don't know why, but people insist on defending one of Spielburg's worst films.

Ramis is so awesome he can make up his own world, like "Secondarily", because saying the word 'secondly' is for @$$holes.

My top 5 new ghostbusters:
1.Jack Black(oh yeah, I went there)
2.Bill Hader
3.Janeane Gorafalo
4.Seth Rogan
5.Danny Mcbride?

And since Rick Moranis isn't coming back, I say bring in Michael Cera as his son or something.

I don't remember GB2 as the disaster that everyone else does. And like D said, it remains leaps and bounds ahead of the regurgitations passing for movies today.

Whatever our differences on here, at least we all agree that Ramis can be trusted.

Hope this comes together, would hate to see it be disappointing.
Ya I remember the 2nd more as kid, so that's why I liked it.
Though when I watch it today it's not as great as I remember.

Yeah I never understood the criticism leveled at Ghostbusters 2. No, it's not as good as the first one, but how often is a sequel as good or better than the first one? It does happen, but more often than not, the first is the best. As The D said, GB 2 was still better than most comedies we get today. I thought it did very well to bring back the same cast and retain the same spirit as the first one.

i have the ps3 game, it's pretty fun.

this movie seems to be heading in the right direction. And pardon me CTRLATDEL, but Janeane Gorafalo can't act her as.s out of a paper bag. She was the WORST part of the last 24 season, and other shi.tfest movies that she happens to fall into. I really wouldn't want to see Seth Rogan in this either. While I like his films, we don't need another movie showing him smoking it up with Slimer or something and eating a bag of fritos. Paul Rudd, yes, perhaps. He's got the better smartas$ attitude. His role in Role Models fits this kind of dic.kheadish role to take over for Venkman's..

Of the newest crop of guys in comedies these days

Paul Rudd and Bill Hader are the only two that should be part of a new GB crew.. their humor and delivery will blend perfectly with the likes of Bill Murray and Akroyed

I love the idea. I would like to see all the old ghostbusters, including Winston (he never really got the respect he deserved), unchanged the way they are now, Ramis can definitely keep the beard, doing the same gig. Something similar to the game would entertain me. Maybe have a train of rookies come in and try to take their place or do their job. Show a few running away screaming while the GB%u2019s go %u201Cehh%u201D. Cant wait to see it. Keep it alive.

I dont think this movie should focus on replacing the GB's one for one. Thats were I think it could go wrong. I don't want a Venkman replacement or another Egon brainiac to take up the job. I want the original ghostbusters, fighting ghosts with a few extra cadets each with their own voice and mannerisms. But in this world of movies what i want is not what I get... and what I get is usually CRAP. But I have hope...

Would love to see this franchise reinvigorated. They could even reboot it like they did with Star Trek, open it up for new fans everywhere. Its a shame it took this long for Ghostbusters to come back into the public's view again.

They probably don't have to replace the old characters, maybe just do a "starting over" storyline with some new characters that also involve the classic ones again. I imagine they could start a storyline where there are new GB franchises set up and new recruits get trained. That could be interesting, right?

Okay, I feel as though I need to take it upon myself to be a ghostbuster here and say that a dead franchise should just stay dead. Indiana Jones was a perfect example of what taking something from our childhood nostalgia and bringing it into today turns out like. All it does is taint the good name and memories of the original.

What I want to know is where are the "new" ideas for movies like ghostbusters was in the 80's. What new movie franchise was created in the new millennium that wasn't based on a book, remake of a prior movie, or have some ties to another medium that is now being translated into a film.

We have no new ideas left, or worse yet, we have new ideas but not the balls to act on them.

I agree with you on that. Ghostbusters was an original because it tied together a comedy and a scifi type universe. It will be hard to make a good GB given the amount of failures we have seen. I am a huge IJ fan so when the new one came out I was positive till I saw it. Now it does NOT hold a place in my movie collection. Simple as that. The same goes for a new GB movie.
