Wes Anderson Giving Fans a Glimpse of Natalie's Portmans?
More on the rumor that threatens to melt the Web.
by Jeff Giles | September 06, 2007
Discuss Article
The Venice Film Festival is in full swing, and Time Out London is there to report on Wes Anderson's latest, The Darjeeling Limited -- not to mention the short "prequel" screening before it, Hotel Chevalier.

Darjeeling, according to Time Out, is every bit the qualified success that other critics' lukewarm reviews have suggested. From the article:

Structurally, the film isn't entirely sound, and the emotional depth of both 'Hotel Chevalier' and certainly 'The Royal Tenenbaums' and 'Rushmore' is never quite achieved.

The movie is reviewed in further detail at the link below, but what some fans really want to hear about is Hotel Chevalier -- specifically, whether or not those rumors of Natalie Portman appearing in the buff turned out to be true. Turns out the answer is yes:

If there's one element of 'Hotel Chevalier' that's surprising for Anderson, it's a strong sense of romance and sexuality: in one shot, Jason Schwartzman gently pulls off Portman's clothes to reveal her naked body from behind, and a later shot has Portman, nude, standing still in a doorway, one foot up against the frame...It's the sexiest thing that Anderson has ever done.

Of course, as other outlets have pointed out, the normal caveats apply: It could be a body double, British tabloids are untrustworthy, et cetera. And since Chevalier won't be playing alongside Darjeeling in theaters, there's some question as to where (or whether) it'll reach a wider audience anyway; according to the Timeout article, it may "only be available to see online." But take heart, fanboys -- if there's one thing the Internet has taught us, it's that where there's skin, there's a way.

Natalie's Portmans? Is that what they're calling breasts now?

Next up - Jessica's Albas. Elisha's Cuthberts. Jenna's Fischers.

I like how the sexiest thing Anderson has ever done is held up a camera to some actress standing in a doorway with her clothes off. Come on. That's just SAD. Do you remember how some great movies did sexy without anyone naked ever? Yeah, that's talent.

Y'know, maybe one of the reasons actors and actresses don't do nudity in the US is because the media makes such a big freakin' deal about it...

As a man, I always wonder why my fellow guys are so desperate to see Natalie Portman naked. She's pretty, but she's not the type I really picture naked...

ERRRRRRRRRRRRRR...wrong! no way, she's a frikkin hypocritical prude. besides, if you want to see her with nothin but a bikini bottom on(and sun tanned knockers) go google her. she's sunbathed topless before. eh, i like b33bies...big deal. anyway, she REFUSED to do nudity in all her movies that have actually called for it in the script. she even had the guy who did Closer BURN the video of her stripper scenes. sorry guys...she'll say it was a body double, wasn't her.

cuthbert and alba AND biel(ntil i see Powder Blue) are some other hypocrits. play strippers or hookers or porn stars but refuse to do the nudity. it'd be like an action star refusing to do stunts...its just dumb.

Actually, I think he's already done sexier things that what they describe. But then, sexiness is in the eye of the beholder.

I think Natalie Portman might be one of those girls who's sexier with her clothes on. Obviously she's very pretty, but the body doesn't appear to be anything to write home about. Plus, it's very dumb to think she HAS to do nudity just because a bunch of fan boys want to see it. It's her body and she can show it to who she wants to. She's talented enough that she doesn't have to make a career off of her nakedness like Halle Berry appears to be trying to do.
