[The moviemakers'] straightforwardness about ... sexual relationships is beyond refreshing[,] ... as if sugarcoating were chemically impossible.

Reviews for Confusions of an Unmarried Couple
Even in the setting of two self-absorbed people who really aren't sure what they desire from life, "Confusions%u2026" is never that entertaining and that's really because the arguing often really borders on shrill and irritating...
Functions as coach to the titular quarreling couple, almost rigorously evenhanded and unbiased as it details the opposing viewpoints and recollections.
The film has elements of Kevin Smith (Chasing Amy) and Woody Allen (Annie Hall); it just doesn't provide us with anything new.
These guys have the skills, and in a time of monotonous, poorly executed, and introspective-free Hollywood romantic drivel, there's plenty of opportunity.
...marks a clear step forward for the Butler brothers in terms of its look, there's little doubt that the movie is ultimately hindered by the presence of a central character that couldn't possibly be more unappealing...
On a wavelength all its own, but...there are some fairly weighty observations.
A degenerate indie modern-day relationship story for the soft-core porn crowd.
