Consensus: Critics say Committed is one of those films that shows promise -- some sort of vision -- of what the movie could have been. The key word is "could." As it is, the script is predictable, the story becomes tedious, and it's simply not funny. Heather Graham shows she can play a central character, but she's not enough to make Committed successful.

Ever since Joline (HEATHER GRAHAM) married Carl (LUKE WILSON), she's madly in love, emotionally bonded and totally committed... even though Carl walked out on her two weeks ago.
Convinced she can save her marriage, she drives two thousand miles west on a comic adventure to track down her wayward husband. Along the way, she has close calls with a pair of highway robbers, a Mexican witchdoctor and more than one cactus.
But the real odyssey begins when Joline winds up in El Paso, Texas, finds Carl and stakes out his new life...from her car. With a little help from her brother Jay (CASEY AFFLECK) his new girlfriend Carmen (PATRICIA VELASQUEZ) and Neil (GORAN VISNJIC), her tantalizing "neighbor," she discovers the ups and downs of being the most committed woman in America.

Reviews for Committed
Krueger deserves credit for pulling off what amounts to a madcap date movie.
Committed is one of those quirky, plotless movies that substitutes novelty for story.
Although the story contains more style than substance, Krueger's follow-up to Manny and Lo still has plenty to offer.
Although it never quite overcomes a severe case of the cutes, Committed boasts enough grace notes to earn a mild recommendation.
Committed boldly sifts through our all too human absurdities, but it never loses its path to the final message, and one well worth waiting for.
The deep empathy, ditsy humor and eccentricity of Krueger's vision are what carries it all off.
The romantic tale becomes redundant, with scripter Krueger struggling for inspiration -- and viewers quickly losing interest in her idiosyncratic protagonist.
Challenges us to ponder the importance of promises, the power of love, the difficulty of keeping faith with one another, and the long, hard road of zeal.
