Strathairn Joins Cast Of "The Bourne Ultimatum," "The Spiderwick Chronicles"

David Strathairn is going to be a very busy man. Variety reports the respected character actor is joining the cast of the Paul Greengrass-helmed "The Bourne Ultimatum," as well as the fantasy film "The Spiderwick Chronicles."

In the third of the "Bourne" films, which star Matt Damon as a secret agent with a mysterious past, Strathairn will play the leader of a secret group pursuing Damon's character. "Spiderwick," directed by Mark Waters, tells the story of a group of children who move into a mansion, thereby discovering a book which leads to adventure. The film also stars Freddie Highmore and Sarah Bolger.

In addition, Strathairn will star in the football film "We Are Marshall" and Wong Kar-Wai's first English language film, "My Blueberry Nights."

It's funny, how I just yesterday was thinking what David Strathairn is up to nowadays. He's a cool looking guy.

When I saw the headlines I thought "The Spiderwick Chronicles" was the subtite to the new Bourne film. They could match, Spiderwick has a classic Bond villain name

... you do realize the Bourne films are based on Robert Ludlum's novel trilogy?

And are you really comparing Bourne with Bond? The two are miles apart as far as spy flicks go.

I thought I was making a stupid joke

And yes the two are "miles" apart. The Bond films stresses loyalty as a spy, The Bourne films stress rebelion and questioning orders

Also the Bourne films have been better then the past 20 years of crappy Bond films, (except maybe Goldeneye)
